18-year-old man shot dead in Mission

An 18-year-old San Francisco man was shot and killed early Sunday in the city’s Mission District.

Jorge Hurtado was at 23rd and Treat streets around 1 a.m. when he was approached by another teenager, who briefly exchanged words with Hurtado, said Sgt. Wilfred Williams, spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department.

The suspect shot Hurtado, got into a dark-colored SUV and left the area, Williams said.

Hurtado was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the medical examiner.

Police have made no arrests in the killing. The suspect was described as about 5 foot 6 and between 16 and 18 years old.
